Leucate is the most famous kite spot in France, nicknamed the European capital of the wind. Two winds dominate: the Tramontane (NW, powerful and regular) and the Marin (SE, hot). The beach of La Franqui and the pond of Leucate offer varied conditions — waves on the sea side, flat on the pond.

The Tramontane can exceed 50 knots. Strong currents on the sea side. Swimming area to be respected in summer.Leucate-Plage or La Franqui, Aude. Exit the A9 motorway towards Leucate. Many schools on site.
