Lac de Monteynard

Lake Monteynard-Avignonet, located at an altitude of 483 meters in the Isère department, is one of the most renowned kitesurfing spots in the French Alps. It primarily benefits from a northerly thermal wind, amplified by the Venturi effect created by the terrain. In spring and summer, the wind generally picks up in the late morning and can blow between 10 and 20 knots, or even more during periods of strong northerly winds. Southerly winds are less frequent and often strong, gusty, and unpredictable. The water can quickly become choppy when the wind picks up. With its variable winds, its enclosed terrain, and its grassy launch areas, it's the perfect spot for intermediate kitesurfers.
